Featured Adventures/ Athletes

Here we will promote, profile and interview the people who take part in quirky races on a regular basis and adventures who take on their own crazy challenges.

Matthew Balding
Matthew balding’s achievement of completing SEVEN Spartan Race Trifecta’s in one year is almost unprecedented and that’s before you even consider that he did it all while wearing a huge bear costume. We caught up with ‘Mental Bear’ to find out all about it.

Michelle Frost
Ten years ago Michelle Frost became the first person in history to complete the famous 26.2 mile distance on stilts when finishing the London marathon in a time of 8 hours 25 minutes. A decade on she’s going back for more, still on stilts but this time aiming to break the current world record time of 6 hours 50 minutes. After witnessing her exploits in person at The Big Half (marathon) last Sunday Quirky Races’ Chris caught up with her for a chat ahead of the big day on April 22nd.

Shaun Gash
The fact that Shaun Gash has done such things as climb Helvellyn, Snowdonia and Mount Kilimanjaro, jumped 15,000 ft from an aeroplane, a whole host of obstacle course races and is about to embark on Lands End to John O’Groats is enough to warrant his place as one of our ‘Featured Adventures/ Athletes’ but what makes Shaun’s feats even more amazing is that he does all this while in a wheelchair.

Elise Downing
4 weeks on from completing her epic 5,000 mile run around the entire UK coastline we caught up with Elise Downing to find out what motivated her to take on such a challenge, her experiences along the way, what she’s been up to since and what the future holds. Some of her answers may surprise you some what!

Chris Lamb
Quirky Races creator Chris goes through some of the crazy ways he’s spiced up regular running races with his own twist and even setting a world record along the way.
