Runaway Bride Race

This world first event is now just over a week away. We caught up with the organisers at Hockwold Hall to get a bit more info and find out a little more about what’s in store for the married couples to be on race day.

Runaway Bride is a 3km run with 10 wedding/ marriage themed challenges along the way. To enter you must be an engaged couple as the prize on offer for the winners is a wedding package worth a whopping £25,000! It will be held in the grounds of Hockwold Hall in Norfolk.

The race takes place on Sunday 21st May and is free to enter. Brides will start at 12pm with Grooms setting off 5 minutes later. Grooms must catch up with their Brides before setting about the challenges together. Grooms must then carry their Brides for the final 50 meters of the course and over the finish line.

We asked race director Aaron if he could give us an idea of some of the challenges that await the couples but he wasn’t giving much away:

“We’re hoping to keep the challenges secret until race day – but some hints on the kind of things to expect is that grooms bride carrying skills will be put to the test – what we would say is that couples will need to work together to be able to complete the challenges – as well as have a fast groom, so that the bride doesn’t beat them to the finish line.”

They have since posted the following video on their Facebook page so it looks like some good old colour powder is going to be involved:

All of the details for the event can be found on the website and with 1000 places available there is still time to sign up as a participant.

As nobody at Quirky Races is currently engaged we are looking for a couple to do an event review for us. If you are taking part and up for doing a written or a video review then please let us know.
